Jesus said, "Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ." Are we sinning if we call our human dads "father"? Can we not call our schoolteachers or professors "instructors"? Since Jesus uses "father" for human dads, this is one of those statements we are not meant to take strictly. He is talking about self-exaltation vs humility. God will honor those who humble themselves. Those who exalt themselves will be humbled.
